Crankshaft pulley - Damper pulley for agricultural diesel engine and
A damper pulley – also called a crankshaft pulley – is a vital component of a diesel engine 's drivetrain. This pulley is attached to the end of the crankshaft and drives the auxiliary drive belt. This belt controls crucial components such as the alternator, water pump, air conditioning compressor, and power steering pump.
In addition to its driving function, the damper pulley plays a key role in dampening vibrations generated in the crankshaft. A defective or worn pulley can lead to malfunctions, damage to auxiliary power units, and in severe cases, even engine damage. Failure during operation can disrupt the internal timing and engine clocks, which in some engine can lead to valve and piston damage, resulting in expensive repairs.
